Parenting Classes

Please note these in-person parenting classes are currently on-hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Visit the Triple P Ontario website to access a list of free virtual sessions that are available to you. To sign up for a session, click the “register” button and fill in the requested fields. You may also call 519-753-4937 ext. 464 Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to speak with a Public Health Nurse for more information on current available options.

The Brant County Health Unit has collaborated with community partners to offer free Triple P Parenting classes in Brantford and Brant County. Triple P is an evidenced-based Positive Parenting program that provides parents with new ideas, strategies, and skills to help build positive behaviours in their children (0-16).

Seminars

Each seminar runs for 90 minutes. For parents of children ages 0-12, the seminar topics are:

  • The Power of Positive Parenting
  • Raising Confident, Competent Children
  • Raising Resilient Children

For parents of children 10-16 the three seminar topics are:

  • Raising Responsible Teenagers
  • Raising Competent Teenagers
  • Getting Teenagers Connected

Discussion Groups

Each discussion group runs for 2 hours and focuses on one of the following topics: Dealing with Disobedience; Managing Fighting and Aggression; Developing Good Bedtime Routines; and Hassle-free Shopping with Kids.

Groups

Each group runs for 8 weeks and includes 5 group sessions and 3 individual phone consultations. Each session lasts about 2 hours. Parents will have the opportunity to share experiences and gain practical skills. Whether it is managing misbehaviour or developing healthy routines at home, this positive parenting program can help parent's develop strategies that work.
